Intro to Quilting

Interested in quilting, but not quite sure where to start? Confused by some of the strange quilting terminology?  (Flying geese?? Charm squares?? Sashing??) This is the class for you! Over three weeks, you'll learn how to cut and assemble common quilting blocks, and turn them into a table runner or mini quilt.

• Pre-requisite: you have completed our Machine Sewing Primer, or have equivalent sewing experience. 
• Project: A 4-block sampler style quilt, assembled into your choice of a rectangular table runner or a square mini quilt.
• Materials: Quilting cottons in 4-5 colors:
  • 3/4 yard of background color
  • 2/3 yard of main color A
  • 1/3 yard of main color B
  • 1/4 yard of main color C
  • 1 yard of backing fabric
  • 1 yard cotton batting
  • machine sewing thread
  • machine needles (80/12 and 90/14)
• Skills learned: Accurate cutting & piecing; Different kinds of pre-cuts; Common block types; Tips for accurate seams and intersections; What is sashing; Borders and why to use them (or not!); Machine quilting; Machine binding and finishing; and more.

Classes are for adults 18+

Cancellation Policy : Registrations are non-refundable; no refunds will be given. Any cancellations or changes to your registration must be done at least 72 hours prior to the class start date in order to be issued a class credit. Cancellations that are made less than 72 hours before the class start date and students who do not show up to class will forfeit their registration payment.
