Intermediate Series Part 2 :: The Skirt

When you're ready to level up your garment-making skills, this series is a great next step! Over the course of five or six sessions, you'll be guided through making a complete outfit, while learning all kinds of garment construction tips and tricks from our experienced instructors. 

This class is part two of the series, where you'll make a skirt. 

This class is all about intermediate garment making skills, will require some homework, and moves at a fast pace. This is not a fitting class. 

**Please be sure of your schedule before registering, as these classes must be taken in order, and scheduling a make-up lesson before the next class can be difficult (class make-up lesson rate is $45/hour).**

• Pre-requisite: You have completed our Intermediate Series Part 1. 
• Project: The Brumby Skirt from Megan Nielsen Patterns (included with your registration).
• Additional Supplies Required: 
  • fabric and notions, as noted in the pattern
  • universal machine needles size 80/12
  • matching thread (100% polyester all-purpose) 

• Prep-work: Pattern traced in your size, and your fabric washed and dried. Visit the shop to get advice on your fabric choices!
• Skills learned: how fabric choice impacts the finished garment; selecting the correct size; adjusting patterns for length; strategic pattern layout; constructing pockets; constructing a waist band with facing; installing an exposed zipper; serging seam allowances; and more.
