Weekend Workshop :: Pants Fitting

In this Weekend Workshop, learn how to custom fit a straight-legged trouser pattern to your body.

You will start by choosing your size and fitting the waistband, then make a muslin of one trouser leg. After getting fitting help from your instructors, you will learn how to transfer the adjustments you made on the muslin to your paper pattern. When that is done, you will make one more mock up of your pattern to evaluate your changes and make any final adjustments.

This workshop will be most beneficial to you if you have already made pants or trousers, as your instructors will not spend a lot of time explaining garment construction. Also keep in mind that the fitting process will require you to try on a one-leg muslin, with bike shorts or tights underneath for modesty.

Please note that although this is primarily a fitting class, you may have time to begin work on your final pants, depending on your progress.

We recommend the following patterns: Rika from Closet Core Patterns, Wide Leg Trouser from Peppermint Magazine, Pegs from Merchant & Mills, Lander from True Bias, and the Hollywood Trousers from Liesl & Co. All are available for purchase or printing at Stitch Sew Shop.

**The pattern is not included in this workshop.** If there is a pattern you’d like to use that is not listed here, it must be approved by the instructors before the workshop begins. Patterns must have a waistband (no elastic waist pants), cannot have a yoke, and cannot be close-fitting through the leg. Send us an email if you have questions about the appropriateness of a pattern!

The cost of this Workshop includes lunch Saturday & Sunday, 18+ hours of instruction, use of Shop equipment, and a few surprises & treats throughout the weekend.

This workshop is Level III.

Classes & Workshops are for adults 18+.
