Pattern Drafting :: Skirt
Fascinated by flat pattern drafting? Get an introduction to this advanced sewing skill, and make a skirt that fits you perfectly in this three session class.
- Pre-requisite: You have completed several garments on your own, and are familiar with basic skirt construction.
- Project: You will leave with a skirt block customized to fit you, plus a finished pencil skirt OR A-line skirt.
- Materials: For the first class session, you only need the muslin, dark thread, and machine needles.
- 2 yards of 50" wide muslin
- fashion fabric for your completed skirt (not needed on the first day)
- 1/4 yard woven fusible interfacing for your completed skirt
- 9" invisible zipper for your completed skirt
- dark thread for your muslin, matching thread for your fashion fabric (100% polyester, all-purpose thread)
- universal sewing machine needles, size 80/12
- Prep work: Wear bike shorts or tights to class for comfort and modesty during the fitting process.
- Skills Learned: how to take your measurements; the basics of flat pattern drafting; transferring muslin changes to your paper pattern; how to draft a waist facing; how to install an invisible zipper; hemming by machine and by hand; how to manipulate your finished skirt block into any style of skirt.
This class is Level III. It is important that you already have a good understanding of sewing patterns and garment construction before taking this class. Please get in touch with us if you're not sure if this class is appropriate for you!
Classes are for adults 18+
Cancellation Policy : Any cancellations or changes to your registration must be done at least 72 hours prior to the class start date in order to be issued a class credit. Cancellations that are made less than 72 hours before the class start date and students who do not show up to class will forfeit their registration payment. No refunds will be given.
