This 5 part series is the new version of the popular Garment Sewing :: Level II :: Tops class, and is the perfect follow up to our Beginner Series. In this class you will learn basic garment making techniques used in fitting, constructing, and finishing a woven top. We will be using The Wren Blouse pattern from Chalk & Notch to make a top with bust darts, set-in sleeves, and a button-front placket.
We will start out by making a muslin (a test garment) to assess fit issues that may need to be made, including moving bust darts, full or small bust adjustments, shoulder adjustments, and length. You will learn how to make the adjustments that pertain to your needs and how to transfer those changes to your pattern.
Once you have a satisfactory muslin, we will spend the rest of the class learning how to construct the blouse. You will learn how to sew darts, set in sleeves, finish necklines, hem, and make buttonholes.
This class is Level II. See information about our class levels here.
A copy of the pattern is included. The Wren Blouse is available in sizes 0-30 (up to 62" bust), with A/B and C/D cup sizes.
Classes are for adults 18+. We offer individual lessons for those younger.
